Welcome to EnglishTown! The goal of EnglishTown is not to separate The Welt (World) into English and non-English, but to help English-speaking players become comfortable in BrettspielWelt, just as others have helped us become comfortable. Everyone is welcome to play in EnglishTown and to become a citizen of EnglishTown. Please contact daveb02 (our current mayor) or Podiceps (our current deputy mayor) if you would like to move into our town. If you are totally new to BrettspielWelt we recommend you read Boomer's help pages. Anyone can play in EnglishTown. We welcome and encourage it. If you would like to become a citizen of EnglishTown more information can be found here. If you are totally new to BrettspielWelt we highly recommend you to read through Boomer's help pages.
Archie--The Town WizardArchie is a puppet that lives in /room C10. He is online most of the time (except in the 10 minutes just after a reboot). When you are in /room C10 you can give Archie commands and he will give you help and information in a pop-up window. Type @help in /room C10 and Archie will give you further directions. The Town ChatThe town chat is only available to EnglishTown (and certain other invited citizens of other towns) members. If the chat window is not already open you can open it by typing "/ctell" and then "your message" from any main window. (If you don't want the town chat popping up you can use the command /mutectell on). If you are a member of EnglishTown a message in the town chat is in most cases the fastest way to find English speaking gaming partners. (To see who is in the chat you can type /chwho in the chat window). Also, when BSW is down but you really need to chat about it, Boomer has a BSW chat here. Bulletin BoardFor our citizens: Use the bulletin board to voice your opinion regarding any town matters. Inactive PlayersWith the introduction of guilds into BSW a new feature was added. Every month each town has to pay a certain amount of resources (food and clothes) for each of its inhabitants. This mean that it is very "expensive" for the towns to have inactive players as inhabitants. Because of this, we will remove EnglishTown citizens who haven't played recently. If you are removed then start playing again, we would, of course, be very happy to welcome you back to EnglishTown. You can see more information about this on our membership page. ElectionsEvery month there is an election for mayor in each town in BSW.
This means that you should vote for mayor every month. Voting is done by the /vote command.
For example, voting for a person called dumdum is done by writing /vote dumdum
(You have to be in any EnglishTown room or game - these start with C10 - when you place your vote). You may vote as many times as you like but only your last vote counts.
Resources and Cloth and Tool ProductionInfo about resources. The ET Weberei (mill) is in /room C10-41. This is where we make cloth from wool, and hopefully all citizens will help with the production by running the mill. When you see people asking for help in the mill in ET chat, this is what we are talking about. You can read about how it works here. The forge, where we make our tools, is in /room C10-48. Tools are made the same way as the clothes. Both the forge and the mill have to be reset by the Botschafter or Freimeister after each production batch to be able to produce again. Usually the production number is set to 10. This means that there have to be 30 wool available for the mill to work, and 30 wood + 20 ore for the forge to work. It's also helpful to note that it's better for the town to get as many people milling/forging at once, since the mill and forge can only be set once per hour. More people = more cloth/tools = more things for ET! |
